Abstract: Final-state interactions provide a unified description of two-particle correlations and bound-state formation in the presence of a particle source. We derive the correlation function and coalescence factor in the Wigner-function formalism, starting from a QFT production amplitude and a Bethe–Salpeter description of the two-body system. The non-relativistic Schrödinger framework is obtained, and we review the treatment of the resulting quantum mechanical scattering problem. We discuss approximations commonly used to render these expressions tractable and symmetry considerations relevant for angle-averaged correlations. Based on the work, arXiv:2602.02810.
